Work on the adobe house in Hillsboro began Monday as stonemason Dillis Owen of Wilsey cut out and replaced a section of stucco that was broken. A $69,000 grant from Kansas State Historical Society will fund 80 percent of the repairs.

Hillsboro's Sonja Jost completes the backstroke leg of a 15-to-18-year-old 200-meter medley relay Saturday at the Mid-Kansas League championship meet in Hillsboro. For a fourth consecutive year, Hillsboro swimmers won the championship. Nine teams fielded 500 swimmers for the event, which was viewed by 2,000 spectators.
