Emergency responders wrap up work on a one-vehicle rollover accident Monday on US-56 between Eagle and Falcon Rds. near Lehigh. Hillsboro firefighters and ambulances from Hillsboro and Marion were called to the scene. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was trapped in the vehicle. The ambulance rendezvoused with a Lifeteam helicopter at Hillsboro airport, and the woman was flown to Wesley Medical Center. The sheriff's deputy reporting the accident was unavailable to provide additional details as of press time.
Roofers install new wood shingles on the roof of the Mennonite Settlement Museum last week in Hillsboro. Hail damaged the roof last spring during a storm, and the cost of repairs to the city was a $500 deductible because insurance covered it, said city administrator Larry Paine.
Pancakes, syrup, sausage, and safety were on the menu Saturday for the annual Hillsboro Lions Club feed at Hillsboro Senior Center. Club President Richard Riemer took advantage of a steady stream of attendees to promote the Yellow Dot safety program. The voluntary program asks participants to fill out identifying and medical information forms to be kept in the glove box of a car or truck, and provides a large yellow sticker for a vehicle's back window to alert emergency workers to look for the information.
