Local residents Doug Kjellin, Greg Bowers, Chuck McLinden, Brett Billings, and Nick Kraus appear in an article telling of their participation in the filming of the movie, “The Last Days of Shaniko,” a movie short partially filmed in Marion.

Walkers of all ages are pictured as they trek across Marion County Sunday morning as part of the Father Emil Kapaun pilgrimage from Wichita to Pilsen in support of the beautification of Kapaun.

Carlye Simons received a $1,000 scholarship check Thursday from St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary. The 2010 Centre graduate will attend Kansas State University in the fall and wants to study pre-dentistry or pre-medicine. Marion graduate Katie Zogelman of Florence also received a $1,000 scholarship.

Marion Elementary School students selected by their classroom teachers for following guidelines for success — being responsible, respectful, and doing their best are Annie Baliel, Jacob Whitwell, Nathan Shields, Tyler Boudreaux, Issak Thomas, Chris Hoffman, Cameron White, Emily Dornbush, Christian Becker, Emily Davies, Madison Coleman, Garret Alleven, Monica Harrison, Bailey Robson, and Cooper Garman.
