Our merchants are ready to put on special sales days, offering advantages to their customers and advertising Marion as a trade center to the entire county.

John Propp sold his farm adjoining town on the south, the old Watson place, this week for two hundred and fifty dollars an acre, to A.A. Ehrlich. This is said to be the highest price ever paid for land in this county.

The James William Miesse American Legion Post will soon have an Auxiliary formed. The committee is doing some very fine work.

Fifty years ago Tuesday, T.P. Burkert walked into Marion from Junction City. In honor of the day, Mr. and Mrs. Burkert gave a dinner Tuesday evening to the following old settlers, all of whom were in Marion at that time: Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Locklin, Mrs. F.M. Penland, Lisha Shreve, and Ed Baxter. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burkert and Josephine and Mrs. J.L. McHenry.

Earle Loveless is in Lawrence this week for his examinations and will be here the last of the week to resume work for the present at Marion Pharmacy.
