The Farmers Union’s picnic Monday drew a fine crowd from various points of the county and the events of the day went off as announced in the program last week. Marion and Pilsen bands furnished fine music and the speakers at the park had a fine audience and pleased it.

Professor Bragers, violin instructor, writes that he will resume his classes here on the 14th of this month. He will be in Marion on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Marion Pharmacy in connection with all the many Rexall stores in the United States will hold a straw vote on the presidential candidates, beginning on the 15th of this month.

There will be separate boxes in the Marion store for men and women and it will be interesting to see how the vote progresses. A tally will be placarded in the store each day. Drop into the store and cast your vote early.

Wm. Maltby, after a fine summer’s vacation, took up his old work of court house custodian the first of September.

A power farming demonstration will be held Sept. 14 at Florence. The big Fordson power farming demonstration will be held on the farm of R.T. Battey opposite the baseball park.

Ten Fordsons will be shown plowing, discing, pulverizing, seeding, threshing, silage cutting, feed grinding, wood sawing, etc.
