The beautiful Christian Church, dedicated less than a year ago, and built by an enthusiastic congregation at a cost of more than $50,000 was consumed in a fire which started about seven o’clock on Sunday morning.

Rev. Roberts, who lived in the apartments at the rear of the church, had been in the basement about an hour before and had fixed the fire and at that time had noticed no trouble.

Showing a fine spirit of hope and perseverance, the congregation started the same day on plans for rebuilding.

The Marion Pharmacy is greatly improving its place of business this week by the installation of some handsome new fixtures. A very fine new prescription case, new cigar case and candy case, all of the very latest design add greatly to the appearance of the room. These recent new additions at the soda fountain have not previously been noted.

If Mexico should declare war on Marion County on account of the trouble at Florence, reported in the last Record, Sheriff Hannaman and County Attorney Wheeler should load up the cannon on the Courthouse lawn and get ready for business.

A party of business men was here from Conway Springs Tuesday to inquire about the Marion fire truck and the service it has been giving. Their town, like many others, has inadequate fire protection and they are looking over different outfits so as to be in position to buy what will fit their needs.

Chief Joe Swan, who takes a great deal of pride in the Marion fire truck, was at the station and explained in detail the working of the truck and the requirements in the way of supplies.

The first event in the new High School gymnasium will be staged Friday night when Hillsboro plays the local Highs a game of basket ball. The game will be called a 6:15 so that people may attend the tabernacle meeting afterward.
