100 mph chase ends in crash

A driver who fled Harvey County on US-50 in a stolen car early Monday wove down Marion County roads before he wrecked into a tree at Burns.

The chase began at 3 a.m. in Harvey County, with the driver headed east on US-50 at speeds of up to 100 mph, Undersheriff Larry Starkey said.

Pursued by both Marion and Harvey County deputies, the driver turned south on Pawnee Rd., Starkey said.

He drove east on 60th Rd. to Timber Rd, then south on Timber to 40th Rd. He took 40th east to US-77, then turned on US-77 to Burns.

He left Burns headed east on 80th Rd., then drove back into Burns, where he lost control of the car at Broadway and Winfield Sts. and wrecked into a tree before fleeing on foot.

Deputies were unable to locate him after the crash. The chase lasted about 20 minutes, Starkey said.
