Drs. Smith and Goodsheller have moved their offices to rooms over the bakery and Santa Fe Trail Café — the first stairway east of Marion National Bank. This move was made necessary by the Marion Hospital project, to which reference has heretofore been made.

The editor heard accounts of a most interesting speech made in Topeka last week by C.B. Smith concerning immigration in general, and particularly with reference to the coming of the Mennonites to this county in the 1870s.

Governor H.S. Martin, Mrs. Martin, and Sibyl Martin expect to leave Thursday of next week for the Philippines. Marion folks have greatly enjoyed the visit of the Martins back home, and it is a safe guess that the Martins also have enjoyed it. Here’s to a safe journey to them.

Irma Wolf had a very narrow escape Friday evening from what might have proven a serious accident.

While carrying a coal oil lamp, she slipped and fell. The lamp broke, splashing coal oil over her hair, which caught fire.

Her mother and father quickly wrapped her in bed clothing and put out the flames. She, however, was burned about the neck and face and received a serious cut to one hand.

It was feared that one eye was in bad condition, but this is now much better.
