There will be a sociable at the residence of W.C. Lockwood next Tuesday evening. A cordial invitation is extended to all.

Myers & Co. will soon be a new firm doing business in the Case block, adjoining the Post-office on the west. When they get started, of course, you will call around and see what they have to sell, and so we won’t tell you.

Some of our ice dealers—we hope all of them—have availed themselves of the prolonged, though early, freeze and have put up fine, clear ice ranging from seven to ten inches thick. It may be this is the last opportunity they will have this winter.

We remember several years ago the only such opportunity occurred in November. The river did not freeze over after that, and as everyone waited, summer found the community without any ice.

We boldly say it, no one of the two hundred hungry individuals who sat down to the splendid Thanksgiving dinner and supper spread in Rogers Hall by the Methodist ladies ever before got as good a dinner for twenty-five cents.

Dr. J.N. Hannaford, Physician and Surgeon, Mr. C.W. Keller, Attorney at Law, and Dr. G.M. Tidyman, Dentist, will all office hereafter in the upper rooms of the RECORD building, over Christie’s bank.

Mr. J.M. Amborn, of the old reliable Peabody Nursery, was in town Wednesday. He would have us say to parties to whom he was to deliver trees this fall that the early and protracted cold spell has delayed the delivery.

Mr. Amborn is very particular about the nursery stock he sells, and will not fill orders, as some do, simply to get them off his hands, but endeavors always to deliver trees in such condition and at such times that they will surely live.
