1 starter returns for Lady Warriors
The Lady Warriors at Peabody-Burns High School will look different this season. Seven letter-winners return to the team for the 2010-11 season. With only one returning starter, the team will be fresh to a varsity system.
Senior Michaela Methvin is the 2009-10 starter returning for the team. She is a 5-foot-11 post player.
“Methvin will be our leader and expected to score and rebound at a high level for this team,” head coach Darren Schroeder said.
Schroeder is beginning his eighth year at the helm.
Junior Sarah Hofkamp and sophomore Rayna Barnes are also post players for the Lady Warriors. Hofkamp and Barnes are both 5-foot-10. Methvin, Hofkamp, and Barnes will be expected to be tough at both ends of the court.
Two juniors, Tori Schroeder and Jessica Noble, will play guard. Senior Heather Brooks will also compete at guard as well as sophomore Paige Lewis.
“This group is focused and they have been showing improvement on a daily basis,” Schroeder said. “Good player rapport and team chemistry will be a team strength and should help us to keep improving as the season progresses.”
Brian Lightner joins the Warriors bench as a first-year assistant to the program this season.
