Marion police wanted a car that was highly visible and fuel-efficient. They are now cruising in a new black and white 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. It features “Marion Police” graphics on both sides in reflective orange-red letters. It also has graphics reading “Call 911” and “To Protect and Serve.”

Marjorie Nienstedt is subject of Amy Smith’s “They made a difference” article this week. Nienstedt is pictured standing in front of Nienstedt Store in Antelope. Now closed, it at one time was owned by her grandfather, her father, and her husband.

Radiologist Jerry Berg is pictured as he demonstrates a new mammography unit at St. Luke Hospital. The state-of-the-art unit was purchased in part with money from St. Luke Foundation.

Marion High School’s varsity boys earned a second-place trophy at a pre-season tournament at Chapman. Members are Hassian Brown, Corey Darrow, Brad Druse, Tony Gilbert, Matt Holub, Brendan Kraus, Brian Loomis, Chuck Maggard, Kevin Marler, and Aaron Reiswig.

Paula Barta of Marion is one of 16 artists participating in an exhibition of woven works at the National Teachers Hall of Fame, Emporia State University.
