The Earl Wineinger home, less than a mile south of the Marion County Lake dam, burned to the ground early Wednesday morning. It is speculated the fire started in an old chimney. The family escaped without injury, but only a few possessions were saved.

Leroy Burton, who has been teaching in Germany since 1975, has rejoined the faculty at Marion High School. He is the subject of this week’s Personality Profile.

Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Reznicek of Ottawa announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Judith Ann, to Louis W. Wegerer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wegerer of rural Marion.

Births announced in this issue include a son, Joshua Wade, born Jan. 6 to Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Wildin, Marion, and a son, Barrett Christopher, born Jan. 9 to Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Hauser, Grand Rapids, Minn.

Three area Tabor College students will take advantage of opportunities to travel during the winter interterm period in January. Debbie Kreutziger, a senior, will travel with the college choir to Europe. Junior John Popp will be one of 11 students to study banking and investments in New York City. Greg Regier, a sophomore is one of 21 who will study drama in New York City.
