Thirty-five Goessel High School music students took part in Regional Music Festival Saturday at Tabor College. Those earning I ratings qualify to compete on April 28 at State Music Festival.
Ensembles earning I ratings included clarinet quintet, saxophone quartet, flute quartet, Elbiata Singers, men’s ensemble, women’s ensemble.
Vocal soloists receiving I ratings were D’Ambra Kruger, Braden Unruh, Alex Hiebert, Jeff Hall, Aimee Flaming, Gentry Thiesen, Josh Booth, Drake Sterk, Georgia Thiesen, Stephan Goertzen.
I rated instrumental soloists were Erin Brubaker, clarinet; Ben Wiens, saxophone and clarinet; Grant Flaming, trumpet; Braden Unruh, trumpet; Alex Schmidt, tuba; Reece Hiebert, bass clarinet; Gracie Sullivan, flute; Mark Schmidt, flute; Isabelle Houben, string bass; and Georgia Thiesen, flute.
Groups and soloists earning II ratings were brass ensemble, trumpet trio, (vocal) Alex Schmidt, Peter Voth, Erik Brubaker, Isabelle Houben, Samantha Jarvis, Reece Hiebert, (instrumental) Carolin Wetzel, trumpet, and Makayla King, saxophone.
