Hillsboro golf team competed in its first meet of the year Tuesday in Herington.

Senior Evan Olleburger placed sixth overall in the tournament with a score of 96. Par for the course was 72.

“He hit his drives and played around the green well,” Coach Scott O’Hare said. “ “But Herrington doesn’t have watered fairways. That made a big difference in his irons.”

After struggling a little O’Hare said junior Philip Ediger settled down and shot a 107, while freshman Alex Dalke suffered the most from first tournament jitters shooting a 151. However, O’Hare anticipates both improve with time.

Hillsboro’s next meet is Friday at home.
