Heat caused the Trojans to run shorter races Sept. 20 at Southeast of Saline. Even so, three from Hillsboro finished in the top 10 of their races.
Coach Robert Haude said the meet director chose to decrease high school races from 3.1 to 2 miles based on the day’s heat index.
Varsity boys’ runner Jonathan Hinerman took seventh with a time of 11 minutes, 35 seconds.
Caleb Rempel was third among junior varsity boys at 12:35, and Millie Sechrist was seventh among junior varsity girls at 18:01.
“I am continually impressed with the toughness of these runners run with meet after meet,” Haude said. “The competitiveness that these kids bring to each meet makes it a joy to coach them and watch them succeed.”
