Gov. John Carlin paid a brief visit to Marion Friday afternoon to meet area Democrats and other residents at a reception held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morse, 500 N. Third.

This week’s Personality Profile, a special feature by Ruth Meyer, is about Pete Rudolph, who was born in the house where he now lives, on the south edge of the Pilsen community.

Phil Coleman of Brown-Mackie College at Salina will be speaker at Marion High School’s commencement exercises at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Marion Gymnasium.

The three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hett will be graduating from Wichita State University Sunday.

Melissa will receive her degree in business administration with a major in accounting. Melinda and Melanie will each receive Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing with minors in psychology.

Start practicing now for Marion’s 2nd annual Tiddly Winks Tournament to be held Saturday, May 24, is downtown Marion. The event is sponsored by Marion Chamber of Commerce.
