City of Marion commissioners heard a report from Randy Rediker of Utility Consultants, Inc. that Home Box Office will be offered free to all cable subscribers this weekend. Sunday evening’s schedule includes a Muppet movie, Rocky II, and “Time After Time.”

To entertain the children while parents do their Christmas shopping, Marion Chamber of Commerce will present a Christmas movie every Thursday evening till Christmas. Showing this week will be “Santa and the Three Bears,” a new color cartoon.

Pictured standing behind a Burroughs posting machine which probably was used when the bank opened in 1905, employees of Florence State Bank, Colleen Bruner Lenora McLinden, Alberta Herzet, Chris Lalouette, and Don Patry, are ready to celebrate the bank’s diamond anniversary.

A familiar sight for Marion residents is that of Walter Rogers and Delia Bishop, residents at Mid-America Nursing Center, as they walk hand-in-hand to town every day. They say they just like to get the exercise and see what’s going on.

Grand prize winner of the sportsman tote at Lynn’s Farm Equipment open house was LaNorma Kreutziger, Marion. Alvin Reiman of Lincolnville won the second prize of a 2-gallon Gott cooler. Fourteen others received ½-gallon Gott coolers.
