Florence Middle School “Eighth Grade Chorus” performed like professionals Friday afternoon at the Kansas Music Educators’ Association meeting in Wichita.

Marion High School “Select Mixed Chorus” impressed music educators from across Kansas at Century II in Wichita Saturday morning.

Jeff Brewer, vocal music director, was highly acclaimed for the ability of his students in their performances.

Norman Bowers of Marion has been elected president of the Kansas Society of Land Surveyors for 1981. He formerly served as Marion County engineer and more recently was associated with Moser and Association, consulting engineers at Newton.

Marion Homecoming Queen Leslie Burkholder and her escort Greg Boyle are pictured as they spend pre-game moments tending to public requests for photos.

Warrior fan Dale Snelling won one cake and came within two numbers of winning a second one in the cake raffle held at halftime. Sophomore Cindy Heerey is pictured as she presents the cake to him.

The Lost Springs community now has private telephone lines. According to Mrs. Melvin Strecker, Lost Springs correspondent, voices sound much different than when one talked on a party line.

In preparation for the city’s new water supply from Marion Lake, the Hillsboro city council passed an ordinance Feb. 17 requiring the elimination of all household installations combining the supply of well water and city water.

This is to keep the treated water from the federal reservoir independent of untreated well water. The city expects to conduct a search through Hillsboro homes to see that the ordinance is followed.
