Marion will celebrate its 75th annual Old Settlers Day on Sept. 27. The festival is sponsored by Marion Kiwanis Club with Bill Nelsen as general chairman.

Curtis Smalley and his wife, Marilyn, have re-opened the former Dine-Inn Café on Main St. under the name of C&M Restaurant. Smalley has been operating a restaurant under the same name at Emporia for three years. The Marion establishment is his first branch effort.

This club year marks the 50th anniversary of Coterie Club, and members are planning a number of special activities to celebrate.

Marion High School’s class of 1966 had its 20th reunion Aug. 23 at the home of Darold Longhofer. Twenty-seven former classmates spent an enjoyable evening reminiscing and renewing friendships. Those present were Norman Alexander, Harold Bezdek, Norman Bowers, Janice Childs Brock, Judy Pankratz Carpenter, Dennis Conyers, Ken Cook, Cheri Bell Corn, Loretta Smith Childs, Pat Warneke Elling, Bob Good, Walter Hein, Bob Hoch, Dean Jost, Vern Kelsey, Barbara Musgrave Lawson, Toni McElwain Loewen, Darold Longhofer, Dennis Maggard, Stan May, Jim Ottensmeier, Blair Post, Sharon Endres Raleigh, LaVonda Hett Rothman, Beth Thole Rowe, John Schmersey, and Wally Slusser.
