Hillsboro recorded three top-five finishes and Marion had one Saturday at the 27-team Eureka Invitational.
Sutton Redger led Hillsboro, placing third in his weight class by decision over Jaxon Gatton from Winfield.
Aaron Hein was fourth in his class, and Anthony Fickes fifth.
“We are very pleased with the three young men that battled their way to earn medals by placing in the top five,” Hillsboro coach Scott O’Hare said. “It was nice to finally get senior Anthony Fickes, a returning 2023 state qualifier, back in the line-up. This was his first event of the season due to having surgery just prior to Christmas break.”
Seven other boys and four girls participated for the Trojans.
“All gained valuable experience that we hope will help their development,” O’Hare said.
Brian Nguyen placed third place in his class for Marion, finishing the day 3-1.
Kellen Waner was the only other wrestler to collect a victory for Marion. He finished the day 1-2.
“We had a rough day in our toughest tournament of the season so far,” Marion coach Tyler McMichael said. “Brian has continued to grow every single week. We are excited to see what he can do at regionals in a couple of weeks.
“We are getting down to crunch time of our season and we need to buckle down and focus our efforts on fixing the mistakes that we have been making.”
Marion and Hillsboro will be on the road Friday in Hoisington.
