The annual New Year’s Day “wolf hunt” in the Youngtown neighborhood was a fine success this year with hunters covering some 25 sections of land. Eight coyotes were bagged. Over 120 persons went through the lunch line set up at Walt Hayen’s implement shed. Pictured with the slain coyotes are Carmen Hayen, Ruth Hett, Warren Hett, Stanley Vogel, David Goertz, and Tommy Thomas.

A panel discussion was held in the high school auditorium Jan. 2. The purpose was to aid and inform high school students as to some of the concerns and problems they might encounter in the transition from high school to college. Local high school graduates participating were Don Stenzel, K-State; Cheryl Caselman, Emporia State; Lowell Ensey, Westmar College; and John Hoover, Tom Berry, and Mary Melton, Kansas University.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stinchcomb of Lincolnville announce the engagement of their daughter, Charlene Ann, to Ralph W. Janzen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Janzen of Hillsboro.

Ten girls received the highest honor in Cadette scouting, the first class rank badge, Dec. 19, at the fellowship room of the E.U.B. church. Girls receiving the honor were Tammy Case, Susan Hansen, Susan Vogel, Nancy Olsen, Kathy Weber, Susan Marler, Jan Herrick, Cathy Costello, Janice Jantz, and Beverly Hoch.
