Fifty-five graduates are listed on the roll of senior students of Marion High School qualifying for graduation at the annual commencement exercises next week.

For the past month, Mrs. Leroy (Norma) Riggs has been “learning her way around” at Marion Library. Indications are she’ll be a fine replacement for a fine librarian Mrs. Wm. (Ruth) Caselman, who soon will be moving to Colorado.

Jacob Meier, who for 32 years has been in the shoe business in Marion, announced this week that he will retire from active retail business on Main St. However, Mr. Meier will continue to do shoe repair in the garage at his home and will welcome all his friends and customers there.

Curtis Hutchens, Lincolnville, received $50 in Wednesday afternoon’s Cash Day drawing. Lulu Waner, Peabody, missed $5; Karen Kulp, Marion, received $5; Letha Young, Marion, missed $15; and Raymond Kraus, Marion, received $35.

The 25th anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Frick and Mr. and Mrs. H. Irvin Christiansen will be celebrated jointly Sunday in the Durham High School music room. The two couples were married in a double ceremony May 25, 1940.
