Harold Ensley, well-known TV and radio personality as “The Sportsman’s Friend,” will be the featured speaker of the evening Monday at the Marion City Building. The event is the annual supper-meeting of the Marion County Farm Bureau. Entertainment will be provided by the Plainsmen quartet.

Members of the Marion Jayceees are busy in the evenings painting house numbers on curbs in front of homes in Marion. The project will help to identify homes and also will add to the appearance of the town.

Newest addition to the Record’s Produce Derby is a couple of sweet potatoes dug the other day by Ron Widler from the garden of his father, K.C. Widler of near Burns. One weighs a good, full four pounds, the other better than three pounds.

Velma Mathews, Marion, received $150 at Wednesday’s Cash Day drawing. H.A. Seibel Marion received $40 and Geraldine Berg, Marion, received $10. Mrs. Ezra Vogel and Mrs. Lloyd Rands, both Marion, each missed $5.

Babies born at St. Luke Hospital this week include Ann Dee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark W. Childs Sr. of Marion; Machell Renae, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Herbel, Lincolnville; Lorita Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kraus, Marion; James Earl Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Link, Hillsboro; and Joseph Albert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Makovec of Marion.
