Climax of the year’s activities at Marion High School comes Thursday evening with the 66th annual commencement exercises. Thirty-six students will receive their diplomas, completing their school career at MHS.

The most recent improvement at the Marion County Park and Lake is two new bathhouses that face the beach. They are built of concrete blocks with cement floors and angled doorways to provide privacy without having closing doors.

The Winter triplets, Harry, Gary, and Larry, identical sons of Mr. and Mrs. Herb Winter, are pictured on the front page in a three-way boxing match at Friday’s Boy Scout Carnival. Referee Hal Young is intent on the three-way slugging match and finds the rules a little hard to apply. After a wild minute and a half, he called the fracas a draw.

The Marion school board accepted and approved plans Monday for the new gymnasium and vocational agricultural building. Construction should start within the next 30 days.

Successful bidder on building construction was the Martin K. Eby Construction Co., Inc. of Wichita with a low bid of $108,801.
