'Round the Town: Holiday brings visitors

The Durham Baptist Kings Daughters met Dec. 10 for their Christmas meeting in the fellowship hall. Twenty-three members and two guests, Beverly Elliott of Hillsboro and Willabeth Gonselez of Newton, were present. The program committee was in charge of the presentation, which was “From the Cradle to the Cross.” Refreshments were served and the group had a gift exchange. Hosts were Donna Diener, Valera Hamm, Eleanor Herbel, and Dorene Joy.

Duane and Shirley Hamm helped Andrew Christenson, their grandson, of Wichita celebrate his birthday Dec. 10 in Wichita. Albert Christenson and Sarah joined them.

Dorothy Seibel of Newton, Gerald Seibel of Kechi, and Gus and Mildred Hamm of Tampa were evening visitors Dec. 13 of Paul and Arlene Pankratz. The Seibels also visited Mary Seibel.

Gerald and Joan Jost attended the Schmidt family Christmas dinner Dec. 13 at the home of John and Esther Brooks in Goessel. Other family members present were Mary Hiebert of Whitewater; Johnnie Brooks and Elda Mellott of Peabody; Linferd Schneider of Omaha, Neb.; and Alferd Schmidt of Goessel.

Kenneth and LaVonne (Nuss) Wenrich of Atwater, Calif., visited Lois Nuss and other family and friends over Thanksgiving. Malvin and Darlene Schmidt accompanied Leroy Schmidt of McPherson and Jerry Schmidt of Salina to the home of Malvina Heinrichs in Broken Arrow, Okla., over Thanksgiving.

Duane and Shirley Hamm attended a Christmas Cantata Dec. 13 at the First Baptist Church in McPherson. Their daughter Charlene Thiessen was one of the singers. They had lunch with the Thiessens afterward.

Tim Diener and family and Paul and Arlene Pankratz were evening visitors Dec. 14 of Kent and Emily Nichols in Hesston. The Dieners and the Nichols families attended graduation ceremonies for Marissa Diener Dec. 12 at Kansas State University in Manhattan. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
