100 block of West Santa Fe Street, Marion
A 1997 Ford Taurus was struck sometime between noon and 3:49 p.m. Dec. 20 in the 100 block of West Santa Fe Street. The car was owned by Justin Lee Chrisjohn, 144 N. Roosevelt St., Marion.
1500 block of Sunflower Road near 140th
Edith L. Regier, 75, 1928 120th Road, Marion, was driving north on Sunflower Road in a 2007 Mercury passenger vehicle at 6:25 a.m. Jan. 7, when a deer ran on to the roadway and was struck and killed.
Indigo Road near 120th
Gonzalo Toribio, 18, Newton, was traveling north on Indigo Road at 8 a.m. Jan. 10 in a 1996 Volvo passenger vehicle, when he came up on two other vehicles parked by a west ditch. Toribio was slowing down, lost control of the vehicle on ice, and slid in to the left front of a 2001 Honda van registered to Lisa Loewen of 703 S. Washington St., Hillsboro. The driver of the van was checking on the driver of another car in a west ditch and was not in the van at the time it was struck.
Indigo Road near 120th
Serena L. McGinn, 52, Sedgwick, was driving a 2001 Ford north on Indigo Road at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 10, when a truck driving in the southbound lane appeared to be losing control on the snow packed road and McGinn drove in to an east ditch to avoid a collision and struck a power pole.
Milepost 299 U.S. 50
Donald Allen Starcher, 39, Lee’s Summit, Mo., was driving a 2000 International truck east on U.S. 50 at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10, when he lost control of the truck on the ice causing the truck to go into a north ditch. The truck and trailer then jackknifed and struck a fence.
Nighthawk Road near 130th
Vincent R. Magallanes, 50, Wichita, was headed north on Nighthawk Road in a 2005 Ford pickup at 1:25 p.m. Jan. 12, when he lost control on ice in a curve in the road. The truck slid off the road in to a west ditch striking a concrete culvert and ditch embankment. Pamala S. Magallanes, Wichita, was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported by Peabody ambulance to Newton Medical Center with possible injuries.
U.S. 56/77/K-150 Junction
Sara Clapham, 20, Burdett, was westbound on K-150 at 3:19 p.m. Sunday in a 2002 Chevrolet passenger car when the driver failed to yield the right of way for a 1997 Ford pickup, driven by Jeff Kilmer, 48, Herington, who was northbound on U.S. 77. The vehicles collided. Clapham was injured and transported to Via Christi Hospital, Wichita. Ruby J. Kilmer, 53, Herington, was a passenger in the pickup.
