The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
100 block of West First Street, Hillsboro
A two-vehicle accident occurred at 12:27 p.m. Aug. 11 when Larry A. Funk, 63, 870 E. U.S. 56, Hillsboro, was westbound on First Street, Hillsboro, in a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup. He attempted to make a right turn into the post office drive-through when his vehicle struck a 1996 Ford Escape, driven by Gala J. Liebelt, 56, Moscow, which was westbound on First Street.
Liebelt stated to Hillsboro police that she thought Funk was going to make a left turn and began passing him on the right. As she was passing the vehicle, Funk initiated his right turn, striking the driver’s side of the Ford Escape. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages. The Ranger was registered to Funk Supply, 222 N. Main St., Hillsboro.
U.S. 50 near mile marker 300:
Craig D. Duerksen, 35, Newton, hit a deer with a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban at 5:45 p.m. Aug. 14. Damage was estimated at more than $1,000. Duerksen was not injured.
