The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
U.S.-50 near milemarker 307:
Colleen E. Garr, 36, Strong City, was westbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 307 in a 2006 Dodge Caravan van at 5:50 a.m. Aug. 1, when a deer came from a north ditch and was struck. The driver then swerved, lost control of her vehicle, spun 180 degrees, and entered a south ditch. The driver was transported by Florence EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, with possible injuries, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt.
Hit-and-run accident:
James B. Williams, 704 N. Cedar, Marion, reported he was parked at a camping site in Marion County in a 2004 Chevrolet LL, and when he awoke he noticed that his car had been hit. The incident reportedly occurred at 9 p.m. Aug. 2 and was reported to Marion County Sheriff Deputy Travis Wilson at 8:53 p.m. Aug. 3. Deputy Wilson reported there was more than $1,000 in damages in the hit-and-run accident.
330th Road near Nighthawk:
Kevin W. Mueller, 20, 537 Columbus, Tampa, was eastbound on 330th Road near Nighthawk in a 1999 Pontiac passenger car at 5:15 a.m. Aug. 3, when he dropped his cell phone. When he went to retrieve it, he entered a ditch. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported the driver overcorrected and entered the ditch again and lost control. The vehicle rolled twice, landing on its wheels. The vehicle was registered to Donald Mueller of the same address. Philpott reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Bluestem Road near 260th:
Keith A. Hess, 46, 1980 Ridge Road, Marion, was northbound and rounding a curve on Bluestem Road near 260th in a 1993 International truck at 2:45 p.m. Aug. 4, when he turned the truck toward a ditch then turned over on its right side to avoid hitting an oncoming truck that was southbound. The vehicle was registered to Ronald Suderman, 1035 130th Road, Hillsboro. No other vehicle was listed on the report prepared by Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty. Hess was not injured and there was more than $1,000.
Pawnee Road near 120th:
Cory J. Abbott, 16, 108 E. First, Hillsboro, was northbound on Pawnee Road near 120th in a 1998 GMC Safari van at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 4, when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail on the northwest side of the road. The van went through a ditch and into a stream where it came to rest. The vehicle was registered to Pamela Abbott of the same address. Passengers in the vehicle were Paige Nelson, 15, 413 S. Roosevelt, Marion, Stephanie Lieder, 14, 313 S. Ash, Hillsboro, and Emily Hoskinson, 14, 412 S. Main, Hillsboro. Deputy Vogt reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
K-150/U.S.-56/77:
Dana D. Dengler, 61, Olpe, had stopped at the intersection of K-150/U.S.-56/77 in a 1999 Plymouth passenger car at 10:20 a.m. Aug. 8, and then pulled out in front of a 2008 Hyundai passenger car driven by Carlos W. Rubinstein, 49, Austin, Texas. During that time, a semi was stopped in the left lane of the divided intersection. Elizabeth Schroeder, 81, Olpe, was a passenger in the Plymouth and Jennifer Rubinstein, 20, Austin, Texas, was a passenger in the Hyundai. There were no injuries, reported Deputy McCarty, and more than $1,000 in damages.
