According to law enforcement reports released this week:

SHERIFF

US-56 west of Nighthawk Rd.

A 2015 Toyota Tacoma driven by Larry Lackamp, 48, Olathe, left the highway and overturned in the north ditch near the intersection of US-56 and Nighthawk Rd. at 11:40 a.m. March 18. Sheriff’s deputy Derek Fetrow indicated in his report that Lackamp said he fell asleep. Lackamp was not injured, and the vehicle was towed.

70th and Quail Creek Rds.

Joshua Coleman, 21, Morrow, Georgia, was driving a 2015 Honda Civic that ended up in a ditch at 9:30 p.m. March 17 when he crossed railroad tracks on 70th Rd. and reportedly failed to realize that that the road curved at Quail Creek Rd. Coleman and car owner and passenger Tyler Daniel, 22, Stockbridge, Georgia, were not injured, and the car was driven from the scene.

US-56 east of Nighthawk Rd.

Craig Marner, 51, Wichita, struck a deer with a 2012 Freightliner owned by Titus Transport of Denton, Texas, at 11:10 p.m. March 12.

80th Rd. east of K-15

Derek Poulter, 36, Newton, struck an unidentified animal with a 2006 Cadillac CTS owned by Paul Shellito of Halstead at 10:30 p.m. March 20.

US-77 and 110th Rd.

Jake Wofford, 19, Wichita, was attempting a U-turn in a 2013 Kia Optima when the front of the vehicle was struck by a 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Jahron McPherson, 19, Tonganoxie. Each vehicle was carrying two passenger, but no injuries were reported beyond complaints of pain. Sheriff’s deputy Mike Ottensmeier cited Wofford for improper U-turn and failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

US-77 north of 110th Rd.

Austin McKenna, 21, Andover, was southbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Impala when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle at 6:20 p.m. March 21. The vehicle slid into the west ditch, spun, and struck a driveway culvert. McKenna was not injured. Sheriff’s deputy Derek Calvert reported that inattention contributed to the accident, in which the Impala was totaled.

US-77 south of 140th Rd.

Cynthia Ellis, 40, Florence, struck a deer with her 2009 Ford Escape at 5:30 a.m. March 19. According to sheriff deputy Derek Fetrow’s report, Ellis did not report the accident until 10:13 a.m., and no roadway evidence was found at the scene.
