These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 west of Nighthawk Rd.

Scott Chaffee, 35, Gig Harbor, Washington, struck a deer with a 2018 Chevrolet Impala owned by Ean Holdings of Independence, Missouri, at 7 p.m. Feb. 27.

US-77 north of 280th Rd.

Jeffery Holthaus, 60, Douglass, struck a deer with a 2017 Honda Civic owned by Julie Holthaus of Douglass at 6:50 p.m. March 3.

190th Rd. west of Pawnee Rd.

Two separate incidents of vehicles hitting a cast-iron stove laying in the roadway occurred March 1.

David Richmond, 56, Marion, and three passengers were eastbound on 190th Rd. when Richmond’s 2011 Chevrolet Cruze struck the stove at 7:52 p.m. Deputy Aaron Slater reported arriving at the scene at 7:54 p.m. No one was injured, but the car had to be towed.

At 8:30 a.m. March 2, Eugene Christensen, 83, Marion, reported to deputy Travis Wilson that he also ran over a cast iron stove with his 1995 Lincoln Town Car at about 8:30 p.m. the prior evening. The vehicle was still drivable, although there was damage to the undercarriage.

180th and Jade Rds.

Sharisse Thiessen, 16, Hillsboro, was driving a 2001 Buick Le Sabre owned by Linden Thiessen of Hillsboro west on 180th Rd. when she lost control on loose gravel while turning onto Jade Rd. and went into a ditch at 7:10 p.m. March 3. Sergeant Larry Starkey reported driving too fast for conditions contributed to the accident, but no citation was issued. The car was towed.

US-56/77/K-150 roundabout

A Kansas National Guard transport unit with an attached trailer carrying a road scraper was going south through the roundabout when bolts holding the trailer king pin connector broke, causing the trailer and road scraper to flip over onto their sides, causing damage to the roadway and curbing. The driver, Timothy Shoulders, 38, Oswego, and a passenger, John Lewis, 27, Independence, were not injured. The road was blocked for several hours until the equipment could be removed to a side road for pickup the following day.

Clover Rd. north of 220th Rd.

Krista Donahue, 30, Lincolnville, struck a deer with her 2016 Mazda CX5 at 7 p.m. March 7.
