REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Indigo Rd. north of 110th Rd.
Katrina Muzyka, 26, struck and killed a raccoon with her 2016 Toyota Corolla while driving near her home at 2:33 a.m. June 3.
Remington Rd. south of 260th Rd.
Raeanne Bryant, 19, Tampa, hit a deer at 9:18 p.m. June 3 while driving a 2014 Ford Escape owned by Laura Bryant of the same address.
Sunflower Rd. north of 150th Rd.
A Newton woman escaped injury when a car she was driving rolled into a ditch at 3:59 p.m. June 4 after hitting the side of a protruding farm implement driven by a 15-year-old.
Kylie Dillon, 39, was northbound on Sunflower Rd. in a 2017 Buick Envision owned by Susan Swan of North Newton.
Will Alleven, 15, who lives nearby, was southbound in a 1991 John Deere implement, attempting to turn left into a field owned by implement owner Donald Hett.
The driver’s side of the Buick hit a protruding tire of the implement, veered into a ditch and through a fence line, coming to rest on its top in trees and underbrush. The car suffered extensive damage, but Dillon, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped without injury.
Deputy Travis Wilson’s report blamed the accident on improper turning by Alleven but noted that Alleven possessed a valid agricultural license. No citations were issued.
US-56 east of Bison Rd.
Kenneth Lewis, 68, Newton, hit a deer with his 2015 Chevy Silverado C2500 at 5:43 a.m. June 5.
Us-56 west of Kanza Rd.
Hannah Drow, 27, Marion, hit a deer with her 2007 Jeep Compass at 6:18 a.m. June 5.
