These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
US-56 west of Limestone Rd.
Gregory B. Carlson, 31, Herington, hit a deer with his 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt at 4:30 a.m. June 4.
US-56 east of Kanza Rd.
Kent D. Funk, 58, Hillsboro, was taken by helicopter to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, after he drove his 2013 Chevrolet Silverado head-on into the path of an oncoming semi-trailer at 12:30 p.m. June 5.
Semi driver William N. Racey, 58, of Anna, Illinois, also was injured in the accident. He was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital.
Deputy Travis Wilson’s report blamed inattentive driving and an improper lane change by Funk. However, no tickets were issued.
Racey’s semi was owned by American Central Transport of Kansas City. Both vehicles had to be towed.
US-56 east of Alamo Rd.
To avoid an oncoming driver who left the scene, Eddie R. Webb, 43, Hutchinson, drove a rented 2019 Ford F-150 into a ditch and hit a sign post at 8 a.m. June 7.
The truck, owned by Enterprise of McPherson, sustained minor damage and did not have to be towed.
200th and Diamond Rds.
To avoid hitting a deer, Elyse Boden, 17, Goessel, swerved a 2005 Dodge Durango into a ditch, where it overturned, at 6 a.m. June 8.
The truck, owned by Scott Boden of the same address, was extensively damaged and had to be towed. Elyse reportedly suffered possible injuries but was not taken to a hospital.
US-56 east of Limestone Rd.
Kevin W. Geren, 57, Marion, was taken to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, after he was ejected from his 1999 Toyota Tacoma when he overcorrected, drove off the roadway, and rolled the truck into a ditch at 3:14 a.m. June 11.
Deputy Mason Hinz’s report indicated no sign of impairment but that Geren refused to submit to a drug and alcohol test. Hinz blamed the accident on inattentive driving and overcorrection. No tickets were issued.
US-77 north of 250th Rd.
Jean A. Trakowsky, 61, Herington, hit a deer with her 2009 Lincoln Town Car at 9:29 p.m. Thursday.
600 block of Orchard Dr.
Shianne A. Mendoza, Durham, 19, was backing in her 2001 Ford F-150 when her left front wheel well hit the right front bumper of a 2010 GMC Acadia belonging to Julianne Pankratz, Hillsboro.
