REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-50 west of Bluestem Rd.

Two trucks going in opposite directions brushed side mirrors at 2 p.m. June 18.

Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by driver Rodney R. Robison, 59, Cottonwood Falls, but no ticket was issued.

Robinson was driving a 1993 Mack truck owned by paving contractor Apac Kansas of Hutchinson.

The other truck, a 2019 Freightliner owned by Stutsman Transport of Hills, Iowa, was being driven by Scott R. Westerhoff, 49, of Riverside, Iowa.

US-50 at Maple St., Peabody

As reported last week, Mathew R. Lunday, 41, of Enid, Oklahoma, had to be extricated from wreckage and airlifted to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, after a three-vehicle accident at 3:40 p.m. June 19.

Lunday’s 2013 Chevrolet Suburban was hit head on by a 2020 Kenworth T-680 semi-trailer truck that had swerved in a vain attempt to miss a 2011 Toyota Camry that had stopped in traffic.

Neither of the other drivers nor their passengers reported injury.

The Camry was being driven by its owner, Jenna L. McConaha, 33, of Lancaster, Ohio. Passengers included Henry McConaha, also 33 of Lancaster, and Marjorie Price, 66, of New Boston, Missouri.

The semi was being driven by owner Singh Palwinder, 27, of Fresno, California. Both it and the Suburban, which was totaled, had to be towed. The Camry sustained damage to its rear but could be driven away.

US-56 north of 230th Rd.

As reported last week, two people were injured, one seriously, after their 1998 Mercury Sable crossed the highway’s center line, broke through a fence, and hit several trees at 10:08 p.m. June 20.

Passenger Kay B. Journey, 53, Manhattan, was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, with disabling injuries. Driver Troy D. Journey, 59, also of Manhattan, reported injury but did not require an ambulance.

Their car had to be towed.

Without elaboration, deputy Joshua Meliza’s report blamed the accident on the driver’s medical condition. No tickets were issued.

Sunflower Rd. north of 160th Rd.

Hannah M. Branson, 29, Marion, hit a deer with her 2015 GMC Acadia at 10:36 a.m. June 23. Neither she nor passenger Paige D. May, 21, Marion, reported injury. Branson was able to drive the SUV from the scene.

300 block of N. Locust St.

A parked 2005 Toyota Corolla was hit at 10:03 p.m. June 22 in the 300 block of Locust St.

The Corolla, owned by Oliver J. Good, Marion, was damaged along its driver’s side from back to front by a vehicle that left the scene.
