These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

170th Rd. west of US-77

Joshua T. Siebert, a 16-year-old county lake resident, was ticketed for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident after a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am he was driving at 7:40 a.m. March 23 sideswiped a 2017 Buick Encore that was being driven in the opposite direction.

Sheriff’s deputies were notified roughly seven hours after the accident.

The Buick, driven by Judith A. Smith and owned by Jay S. Smith, who live nearby on 170th Rd., sustained minor damage to its left rear.

The Pontiac, owned by Tawnya L. Siebert of the youth’s county lake address, sustained minor damage to the driver’s side door area.

Investigator Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by Siebert.

K-15 north of 180th Rd.

Beverly J. Wiebe, 53, Durham, hit a deer at 6:33 a.m. March 25 with her 2021 Nissan Sentra, which sustained moderate damage to its left front and hood but was able to be driven away.

Sunflower Rd. north of 150th Rd.

More than two days later, Angela D. Snow, 40, Marion, reported that she had hit a deer at 7:45 a.m. March 25 with her 2021 Chevrolet Camero, which sustained minor damage to its hood, left front, and front.

US-77 south of 140th Rd.

Myria M. Diehl, 34, Junction City, hit a deer at 7:10 p.m. March 25 with her 2014 Honda Odyssey, which sustained disabling damage to most of its front and was towed.

Indigo Rd. north of 90th Rd.

A 1995 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe owned and driven by Evan E. Yoder, who lives nearby, was rear-ended at 5 p.m. March 30 by a 1994 Honda Accord driven by Kelby J. Schmidt, 28, Hillsboro.

The vehicles ended up in opposite ditches. Both sustained disabling damage and were towed.

Yoder told deputy Kaylan Miles that he had been coming to a stop and about to turn left. Schmidt told Miles that Yoder had slammed on his brakes and suddenly signaled a left turn while Schmidt was attempting to pass.

Schmidt was ticketed for allegedly following too closely and passing improperly. Miles’s report also blamed the accident on Schmidt allegedly speeding and driving inattentively.

Five minutes after the accident, Ayden B. Brammer, 18, rural Marion, drove his 2002 Buick LeSabre through the intersection and was unable to avoid debris, which damaged his car’s undercarriage, reportedly disabling its power steering.

US-56 east of Ridge Rd.

Donna K. Washmon, 59, rural Hillsboro, lost control of her 2007 GMC Canyon on a snow-covered bridge at 6:43 a.m. Thursday.

The westbound pickup struck two rear axles of an oncoming 2021 Kenworth semi-trailer truck driven by Lucas S. Nelson, 35, Abilene, causing air to escape from the trailer’s tires, then slid into a concrete bridge railing before hitting a metal guard rail west of the bridge.

Deputy Derek Fetrow’s report said Washmon was driving too fast for conditions, but no tickets were issued.

The semi, owned by Van Diest Supply Co. of Webster City, Iowa, remained functional after the accident, but Washmon’s pickup was listed as destroyed.

K-15 north of 130th Rd.

Nelson Penner, 32, Hillsboro, lost control of his 2013 GMC Sierra K15 at 7:26 a.m. Thursday while attempting to pass another vehicle on a snow-covered roadway.

The pickup veered off the road and struck a mailbox owned by Joanna Talbert of rural Goessel before coming to rest in a ditch. Damage to the right side of the pickup was listed as minor.

Indigo Rd. north of 100th Rd.

Driving on a snow-covered roadway at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Christine D. Reust, 53, rural Burns, lost control of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra owned by Jeremy T. Needham of the same address.

The car went off the road to the left and hit an embankment, sustaining disabling damage to its front. It was towed.
