REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-56/77 north of 250th Rd.

Ellie R. Warren, 20, Wichita, hit a deer at 8:57 p.m. April 7 while driving a 2011 Ford Fusion owned by Charity G. Warden of the same address. The car sustained disabling damage to its front quarter and undercarriage and was towed.

US-56 west of Chisholm Trail Rd.

Mark D. Hudgnews, 47, Emporia, hit a deer at 8:25 p.m. April 8 with his 2014 Ford Fusion. The car sustained what was deemed disabling damage to its front quarter, but no tow truck was called.

Indigo Rd. south of 100th Rd.

Barry M. Raugust, 73, Wichita, was backing his 2001 Chevrolet Silverado onto Indigo Rd. at 8:55 p.m. April 8 when Amy M. Jantz, 48, Newton, swerved to avoid the pickup but could not prevent the right rear of her 2007 Ford Focus from hitting the pickup’s left rear.

Fayez N. Farha, 40, of a different Wichita address was a passenger in the Ford at the time.

The pickup remained drivable, but the car was towed.

Deputy Joshua Meliza’s report blamed the accident on Raugust driving too slowly and backing improperly and on both motorists driving inattentively. No tickets were issued.

US-56/77 south of 260th Rd.

Tahnicca J. Lewis, 29, rural Lost Springs, hit a deer at 2:02 a.m. April 11 with her 2019 Ford Fiesta. The sustained damage deemed disabling to its front, hood, and undercarriage, but no tow truck was called.

U.S.-56/77 north of 290th Rd.

William R. Falen, 76, rural Lost Springs, hit a deer at 9:12 p.m. April 11 with his 2014 Dodge Ram 1500, which remained drivable despite damage to its right front. Peggy J. Falen, 76, of the same address was a passenger.

US-77 west of Wagon Wheel Rd.

Danaily G. Mercer, 17, rural Newton, suffered possible injuries at 8:34 p.m. Thursday but was not taken by ambulance to a hospital after she drove a 2007 GMC Denali into the same ditch twice, hitting a field entrance before coming back on the roadway.

Meliza’s report blames the accident on distracted and inattentive driving, but no tickets were issued.

The truck, owned by Brian E. Smith of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its front quarter and was towed.

HILLSBORO

Dollar General parking lot

A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Rosella M. Epp, 81, and a 2019 Ford F-150 driven by Merle Friesen, 69, both of Hillsboro, collided at 11:20 a.m. Thursday while Epp was driving south and Friesen was driving east in a parking lot at 605 Orchard Dr.

Epp’s car sustained significant damage to its passenger side doors while Friesen’s truck had only minor damage to its front bumper.
