These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
US-77 two miles north of US-50
Rafael Noriega, 70, Marion, hit a deer at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 with his 2008 Toyota Yarris, which sustained damage characterized as minor to its right front.
Indigo Rd. south of 170th Rd.
David E. Richmond, 62, Marion, hit a deer at 9 p.m. Nov. 8 with his 2016 Toyota Highlander, which remained drivable with damage to its left side.
Kanza Rd. south of 270th Rd.
Cole T. Kaufman, 20, rural Durham, hit a deer at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 8 while driving a 2007 Toyota 4Runner owned by Todd L. Wiebe of rural Burns.
Miranda C. Kaufman, also 20 and of the same Durham address, was a passenger in the pickup, which sustained damage to its left front and hood but remained drivable.
K-15 north of 270th Rd.
Jennifer L. George, 51, Marion, hit a deer at 6:21 p.m. Nov. 9 with her 2013 GMC Sierra, which remained drivable with damage to its right front.
Marion St. east of Poplar St., Goessel
Brandon W. Moore Jr., 17, Goessel, backed a 2008 Ford Expedition into a legally parked 2023 Ram 1500 at 11 a.m. Nov. 11.
Both the Ford, owned by Stephanie L. Moore of the same address, and the Ram, owned by PV Holding Corp. of Wichita, sustained damage characterized as minor.
Indigo Rd. south of 90th Rd.
Dominic J. Lester, 17, Wichita, hit a deer at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 11 while driving a 2015 Hyundai Azera owned by Sarah A. Lester of Valley Center.
Isaac Carpenter, 17, Wichita, was a passenger in the car, which sustained disabling damage to its front, left, and hood and was towed by the owner.
US-56 east of Old Mill Rd.
Carole A. French, 72, McPherson, hit a deer at 7:02 p.m. Nov. 12 with her 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, which sustained disabling damage to its front, right, and hood and was towed.
US-77 at Broadway St. in Burns
A 2017 Jeep Compass owned and driven by Megan M. Crosley, 31, of Burns and a passing 2015 Honda Civic collided while the Jeep was turning left at 4:20 p.m. Nov. 13 onto Broadway St.
The Civic, driven by Paloma Picazo-Padilla, 22, Junction City, sustained damage along its right side and was towed. Also in the vehicle, owned by Sergio Picazo-Padilla, were children Ashley Picazo, 16, and Sergio Picazo, all of the same address. Crosley’s Jeep remained drivable with damage to its left front.
Detective Aaron Christner’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by Crosley, but no tickets were issued.
Goldenrod Rd. south of US-56
Caleb J. Day, 20, Derby, misjudged a curve at 11 p.m. Nov. 13, lost control of his 2011 Mazda MZ3, and drove it into a ditch, where it turned over onto its left side.
The Mazda was destroyed, according to undersheriff Larry Starkey, who blamed the accident on inattentive driving and driving too fast for conditions.
No tickets were issued.
190th east of Kanza Rd.
Shane S. Hatton, 45, Peabody, hit a deer at 6:24 p.m. Nov. 14 with his 2020 Ram 1500, which sustained damage characterized as minor.
K-15 north of 240th Rd.
Larry W. Schafer, 50, Durham, hit a deer at 6:50 p.m. Nov. 14 with his 2016 Subaru Outback, which remained drivable with damage to its left front.
Nighthawk Rd. north of 120th Rd.
Donna J. Jordan, 83, Peabody, hit a deer at 9:30 p.m. Nov. 15 with her 2015 Dodge Caravan, which remained drivable despite damage to its front and hood.
Howard W. Jordan, 86, of the same address was a passenger at the time.
