REPORTED
These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
Sunflower Rd. north of 160th Rd.
Melisa K. Burnett, 62, rural Peabody, hit a deer at 2:35 p.m. Sept. 27 with a 2017 Jeep Compass, according to an accident report released Friday.
The Jeep, owned by Matthew L. Burnett of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its front and undercarriage and was towed.
US-50/77 roundabout
Luke G. Watkins, 18, rural Burns, failed to yield while entering the Florence roundabout at 3 p.m. Sept. 28 and rear-ended a westbound semi-trailer, according to deputy Bruce Burke’s report.
Watkins’ southbound 2004 Ford F-350 was listed by Burke as destroyed with damage to its front third and undercarriage.
Burke found no damage to the semi-trailer, owned by Dream Trans of Alpharetta, Georgia, and driven by Dmytro Zhmud of Alpharetta.
No tickets were listed as having been issued.
US-77 north of 150th Rd.
Kassandra R. Wade, 19, Wichita, drove her 2010 Kia Soul into the rear of a 2022 Kia Forte that was slowing to avoid cattle in the roadway at 11: 40 a.m. Sept. 29.
Wade’s car, owned by Jeffrey W. Wade of Liberal, sustained disabling damage to its front and hood and was towed.
The other vehicle, owned by Stacy E. Catlin of Garden Plain and driven by Macy L. Catlin, 23, of the same address, remained drivable with damage to its rear. Cora Vineyard, 24, Argonia, was a passenger.
Deputy Aaron Christner’s report blamed inattentive driving by Kassandra Wade, but no tickets were listed as being issued.
HILLSBORO
Casey’s General Store
Darrell A. Unruh, 85, rural Hillsboro, backed his 1978 Ford F-150 into a parked 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe owned by Jared M. Craighead, rural Hillsboro, at 1:39 p.m. Saturday while both vehicles were at fuel pumps at Casey’s General Store.
Craighead was out of his truck at the time, but son Colt J. Craighead was inside the pickup.
The undamaged Ford’s tailgate struck the front grill and bumper of the recently purchased Chevy.
No tickets were listed as being issued.
