The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Main Street near Elm, Marion:
Jacob K. Czarnowsky, 18, 217 N. Coble, Marion, was eastbound on Main Street near Elm, Marion, in a 1996 Ford F-150 pickup at 4:25 p.m. Oct. 30, when he stated he was looking at something in the park and struck a 1999 Chevrolet van, driven by Nancy Y. Fruechting, 51, 415 N. Freeborn, Marion, who was turning. The pickup was registered to Wally Ross, of the same address. Passengers in the van were Jennifer A. Fruechting, 13, and Zach T. Fruechting, 10, both of the same address as the driver. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion Police Officer Tyler Mermis.
190th Road near Quail Creek:
Adam J. McMillen, 21, 219 Locust, Marion, was eastbound on 190th Road near Quail Creek in a 1997 Acura passenger car at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 4, when the vehicle entered a south ditch, traveling for some distance before coming to rest in a dry creek bed. The driver was taken by Marion EMS to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, with possible injuries. Passengers Alex Myher,18, and Tiana Adams, 17, both of Salina, and Hannah Drow, 17, 422 S. Roosevelt, Marion, were transported to St. Luke Hospital, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Matt Vogt .
K-15 near 100th Road:
Diann Richards, 58, P.O. Box 132, Goessel, was southbound on K-15 near 100th Road in a 2003 Mercury Sable at 7:10 a.m. Oct. 20, when a deer came out of a west ditch and was struck by the vehicle. Matt Richards, 25, of the same address, was a passenger. Marion County Undersheriff Randall Brazil reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Remington Road near 210th:
Tommy A. Wunderlick, 57, 411 S. Third, Marion, was northbound on Remington Road near 210th in a 2000 Dodge pickup at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 22, when he struck a deer that came out of weeds from a west ditch. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
120th Road near Falcon:
Todd A. Arnold, 41,301 S. Cedar, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 120th Road near Falcon in a 2005 F350 pickup at 5:30 p.m. Oct.23, when a deer came out of a north ditch and was struck. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
120th Road near Goldenrod:
Ashley N. Sauceda, 23, Newton, was westbound on 120th Road near Goldenrod in a 2003 Lincoln passenger vehicle at 7:35 p.m. Oct. 24, when a deer came from a south ditch. She was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Larry Starkey reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
U.S.-77 near 110th Road:
Vedoe A. Lesane, 36, Killeen, Texas, was southbound on U.S.-77 near 110th Road in a 2003 GMC Yukon at 8:15 p.m. Oct. 24, when a deer came from a west ditch. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Deputy Starkey reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
K-15 near 130th Road:
Judy M. Smotherman, 47, Wichita, was southbound on K-15 near 130th Road in a 2005 Ford van at 7:45 p.m. Oct. 25, when a deer came from an east ditch and was struck. Brent Smotherman, 47, of the same address, was a passenger. Deputy Starkey reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Nighthawk Road near 110th:
Lee D. Singular, 48, Lynn, was southbound on Nighthawk Road near 110th in a 2003 Dodge Caravan at 8:40 a.m. Oct.27, when a deer came out of an east ditch and was struck. Undersheriff Brazil reported the driver was not injured and there was less than $1,000 in damages.
U.S.-56/77 near milemarker 307:
Migual E. Hernandez, 36, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was northbound on U.S.-56/77 near milemarker 307 in a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban at 12:18 a.m. Nov. 1, when four deer entered the roadway from an east ditch. One deer was struck by the vehicle. Deputy Vogt reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
130th Road near Alamo:
Jerry J. Voth, 25, Newton, was eastbound on 130th Road near Alamo in a 2000 Pontiac passenger vehicle at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 1, when a deer came from a north ditch and ran into the side of the vehicle. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
U.S.-56 near milemarker 302:
Enid G. Cady, 69, 234 Tanglewood Lane, Marion, was eastbound on U.S-56 near milemarker 302 in a 2006 Lincoln Towncar at 7:20 p.m. Nov. 4, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Jim Philpott reported the driver had possible injuries but was not transported by EMS to hospital.
Nighthawk Road at 120th:
David Herbel, 53, 2048 Nighthawk, Marion, was southbound on Nighthawk Road at 120th in a 2006 Chevy passenger vehicle at 3 a.m. Nov. 5, when a deer came out of an east ditch, hitting the driver’s door. Marion County Sheriff Deputy Travis Wilson reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
330th Road near Alamo:
Anthony T. Wiebe, 23, Roxbury, was westbound on 330th Road near Alamo in a 1999 Chevrolet pickup at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 5, when he hit a calf that came out of a north ditch. The calf was owned by William Anderson, Gypsum. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
K-15 near 300th Road:
Mitchell C. Unruh, 29, 905 330th, Tampa, was northbound on K-15 near 300th Road in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5, when he struck a deer that came out of a west ditch. Deputy McCarty reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Third Street near Ash, Hillsboro:
Carol S. Grosse, 46, 513 S. Lincoln, Hillsboro, backed from an off-street parking space on Third Street near Ash, Hillsboro, in a 1998 Dodge van at 3 p.m. Nov. 6, and hit the driver’s side front door of a 2006 Pontiac passenger vehicle owned by Christopher Mook, Newton. The van was registered to Prairie View, Inc. of Newton. Judith Maylin, 62, 401 N. Ash, Hillsboro, was a passenger in the van. Assistant Hillsboro Police Chief Jessey Hiebert reported that there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Falcon Road near Goldenrod:
Ethan C. Ott, 17, Newton, drove out of a driveway in a 1979 Chevrolet pickup on Falcon Road near Goldenrod at 5 p.m. Nov. 6, and did not see a 1984 Chevrolet passenger car, driven by Laird R. Goertzen, 16, Newton. Goertzen applied the brakes and slid into Ott. The pickup was registered to Larry G. Ott, of the same address. The car was registered to Myron B. Goertzen of Newton. Passengers in the pickup were Larry Ott, 51, and Seth Ott, 18, both of the same address. Deputy McCarty reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
Ash Street near Grand, Hillsboro:
A 2000 Ford F-150 pickup, owned by Wayne H. and Jane A. Weber, 2836 190th, Marion, was parked on the east side of Ash Street near Grand, Hillsboro, facing north at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 7, when an unknown vehicle struck the left side of the pickup and left the scene. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
K-15 at 150th Road:
Gaye L. Funk, 39, 508 E. C Street, Hillsboro, was northbound on K-15 at 150th Road in a 2001 Ford Escort at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 7, when a deer ran from an east ditch. She was unable to avoid hitting it. A passenger in the vehicle was Phyllis Nuenschwander, 71, 308 W. B, Hillsboro. Deputy Starkey reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Sunflower Road near 170th:
Brent L. Thurston, 44, 111 S. Cedar, Marion, was northbound on Sunflower Road near 170th in a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 7, when a deer came from a west ditch and was struck. Heidi C. Thurston, 41, of the same address, was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Starkey reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
190th Road near Holly:
Michael L. Chaput, 23, Wichita, was westbound on 190th Road near Holly in a 1998 Ford Mustang at 8:45 p.m. Nov. 7, when three cows entered the roadway and one cow was struck. The cows were owned by Keith Harder, 951 190th, Hillsboro. A passenger in the vehicle was Brad Zewe, 18, West Minister, Colo. Deputy Philpott reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.

Darla A. Bryant, 48, 311 S. First, Marion, was eastbound on K-150 near milemarker 7 in a 1995 Ford Taurus at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 8, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Landon Bryant, 1, McPherson, was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Philpott reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
U.S.-50 near milemarker 301:
Craig A. Harper, 46, St. George, was westbound on U.S.-50 near milemarker 301 in a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 8, when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. Deputy Philpott reported the driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
Sunflower Road near 180th:
Vicki S. Jackson, 63, 408 N. Roosevelt, Marion, was northbound on Sunflower Road near 180th in a 2007 Toyota Camry at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 9, when two deer came from a west ditch. She could not avoid hitting one of the deer. Blake Crawford, 15, 210 N. Cedar, Marion, was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Starkey reported the passengers were not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages.
