Allen wins
for fifth time
Hillsboro High School cross-country runner Joel Allen won the Sterling Invitational Thursday with a time of 16 minutes, 44.44 seconds. It was Allen’s fifth consecutive win this season.
Finishing shortly thereafter were Bret Mueller, placing 12th with a time of 18:02.81, and Justin King, placing 13th with a time of 18:15.59.
Avery Franz rounded out the Hillsboro varsity runners with a 49th place finish, clocking in at 20:16.77.
The Trojans did not record a team finish because Josh Richert sat out the meet with an illness.
“With Josh running next week, the guys will be in the hunt for another league championship,” coach Stuart Holmes said. “Potentially, it could come down to just a few points between Sterling, Hesston, and us so we’ll need all the guys to have a great day.”
