Local businesses selected to make commemorative items
Three Hillsboro businesses have been selected to make commemorative mugs, medallions and T-shirts for the city’s 125th anniversary celebration June 25 to July 3.
Each item will include the celebration’s 1884-2009 logo, featuring the Funk Building, better known as Olde Towne.
The event’s planning committee chose Paula Hayen of ClayWorkS, 111½ E. Grand Ave., to make hand-thrown mugs featuring her Flint Hills glazing pattern. The mugs, depicting earth and sky with the celebration logo on front, sell for $18.95.
White T-shirts printed by Green Monkey Graphics, 115 N. Main St., feature a large three- color logo on front. Available in various sizes, they sell for $10 to $12.
Hayen also is producing handmade stamped medallions suitable for use on key chains, as tree ornaments, or on necklaces. They are priced at $5.95.
Proceeds will help defray costs of the celebration.
Items can be purchased at the Hillsboro Museums visitor center, 501 S. Ash St.; Quilt & QuiltRacks, 130 N. Main St.; the city offices, 118 E. Grand Ave.; and Hillsboro Furniture, 112 S. Main St.
