Authorities nab burglars
According to Hillsboro Police Chief Dan Kinning, two Hillsboro teens have been taken into custody Dec. 7 regarding the recent string of commercial burglaries committed between mid-October and early December.
There were 25 break-ins or attempted break-ins. In most instances, nothing was taken but damages occurred while forcing entries into buildings.
The two suspects are a 17-year-old male and a 19-year-old male. A third suspect, also a juvenile and from outside of the community, is being sought in connection with the first five burglaries.
Names were withheld pending charges.
Their capture was a culmination of searches, interviews, evidence collection, and surveillance by law enforcement officers. Marion County sheriff deputies also assisted with surveillance and security.
The two males were apprehended while breaking into Hillsboro Body Shop on D Street while the area was under surveillance. The juvenile escaped but later was taken into custody and currently is incarcerated at a juvenile detention center.
The 19-year-old was arrested and placed in Marion County Jail.
