Awards given to FCCLA
Hillsboro Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America had their annual awards luncheon and installation of new officers April 28 in the Hillsboro High School family and consumer sciences room.
Retiring officers included Ashlyn Simmons, president; Emily Hoskinson, vice president of membership; Megan Chizek, secretary; Meredith Lamkin, treasurer; Alyssa Bettles, vice president of Step One and STAR events; Allister Young, student council representative; and Skye Young, chapter parent.
Emily was installed as chapter president, and Meredith was installed as vice president of membership. Ashlyn won the High Point Award as Outstanding FCCLA Member. Allister Young was recognized for having the most cookie sales.
Emily, Ashlyn, Alyssa, Ashley Brandt, and Aubrey Meier received recognition for qualifying to compete in Knowledge Bowl at the national conference this summer.
Hannah Bostic, Trey Carson, Kendra Saenz, Abby Shope, Karina Torres, and Taylor Vogt completed “Step One,” Hannah and Morganne Hamm completed “Better You,” and Meredith completed “Take the Lead.”
Meredith and Morganne were the chapter’s district voting delegates. Ashley, Emily, Aubrey, and Ashlyn were district student judges, and USD 410 Superintendent Steve Noble and District Librarian Sandy Arnold were district community judges.
State voting delegates were Ashlyn and Allister.

- Second year: Alyssa Bettles, Meredith Lamkin, and Aubrey Meier.
- Third year: Ashley Brandt and Emily Hoskinson.
- Fourth year: Ashlyn Simmons.
