The potential sale of the Central Park Antiques building in downtown Marion could soon make way for a new LLC business dubbed “The Fam Lee Bakery.”
Jeff Lee, President of the potential business, said the contract has yet to be finalized.
“We’re interested in the building for the purposes of opening a family business, but nothing is cut in stone yet,” Lee said. “We put a contract on it, but we’ve still got to go through some hoops.”
Lee said his daughters Jenny Lee and Catie Zurcher would operate the store should the sale go through. The sisters have previous experience operating Flint Hills Market and Bakery in Florence.
Lee’s son, Ryan, would be vice president and Dawn, Lee’s wife, would serve as company treasurer and bookkeeper, he said.
“Our whole family feels really good and positive about the whole thing and there is a lot of excitement,” Lee said. “We just want to run a little family business that provides good products and good service.”
The bakery also would include a deli, and the business would be open for breakfast and the lunch hour until 2 p.m., Lee said.
The family plans to renovate the downstairs of the building to make it “bakery ready,” Lee said, but Unique Designs, which is located in the back of the building, would remain where it is.
He refrained from indicating when the business might open because of the pending sale.
Nadine and Delmar Iseli, owners of Central Park Antiques, have operated their business about nine years.
Beyond putting everything on sale in her store on sale, Nadine said she hasn’t made any plans.
“I haven’t gotten my head around it yet,” Nadine said. “I wish them a lot of success. I am going to miss my customers a lot, but the bakery will be a nice addition to Marion and I want to help the Lees any way I can.”
