Billy Burke

Services for Billy Franklin Burke, 78, of Park City, who died Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Peabody Christian Church. Burial will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Born June 27, 1935, in Albertville, Ala., to Oliver and Margie (Gorham) Burke, he married Avis Louisa Graham on in 1957 at First United Methodist Church of Newton. She died in 1995, and he married Sandra Knoll-Burke in 2001 in Park City.

After serving in the Air Force from 1953 to 1964, he attended Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock then moved back to Kansas and was employed for 33 years by Hesston Corp. He was a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; sons Kevin and Bruce of Peabody; stepsons Charles, Loren, and James Killingsworth; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His parents, brother Marion Tapley Burke, and sisters Jolene Lowery and Belvie “Ann” Floyd preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorials have been established with Peabody Senior Center and Chisholm Trail Senior’s Inc. in Park City.
