Bina places second at Hesston
The Hillsboro High School wrestling team finished eighth out of 18 teams Saturday at the Hesston Invitational.
Aaron Bina was the highest finishing Trojan, placing second after losing 11-2 to Nathan Becker of Garden Plain in the championship match of the 160-pound weight class.
Three Trojans won consolation matches in their weight classes to finish third. Darren Mueller pinned Davion Hill of Wichita West in the 125-pound weight class. Mueller avenged an 18-10 loss to Hill earlier that day to place third.
Justin King defeated Jacob Morris of Stafford in the third-place match of the 145-pound class.
Matt Wiebe won third via forfeit from Colten Johnson of Marion in the 152-pound class.
“It was a nice finish to have all three finish third,” coach Scott O’Hare said. “I felt like the guys competed hard. However, we definitely say some things we need to focus on to get where we want to be. We will have to convince these guys of the importance of keeping a high level of intensity throughout each match.”
The Trojans will host one half of the Marion County Dual Tournament Saturday; their last competition before the new year.
