A scoreless fourth quarter made the Goessel boys’ basketball team’s chances of winning disappear Friday at Moundridge. The Bluebirds lost, 70-35.
Moundridge poured in the points in the first quarter with a 21-9 lead at the break. The dominance continued in the second period as the Wildcats led at halftime, 39-18.
The Bluebirds produced more offense in the third period, scoring 17 points, but Moundridge was ahead, 59-35, by the end of three quarters. The home team scored 11 in the fourth. The lid was on the basket for the Bluebirds who scored zero points.
For the Bluebirds, only four players scored but Davis Cook poured in 17 points and Nic Buller knocked down 10. Shane Goerzen hit two 3-pointers and Reece Hiebert scored two points. The Goessel boys are now 7-6 overall and will play Little River and Centre this week.
