The Goessel football team traveled to Lincoln for the first game in district play and the Bluebird fans were hopeful as Goessel took the ball down the field and quarterback Trey Schmidt crossed the goal line in the first quarter. Schmidt followed blockers for the 2-point conversion and Goessel held their first lead of the season 8-0.

Lincoln scored two times in the first period to snatch back the lead and the scored three times in the second period to take a 38-8 lead at the halftime break.

Goessel could not mount a scoring drive in the third quarter as the Leopards scored 20 more points to win 58-8.

Along with a touchdown run, Schmidt completed four passes to Nic Buller for 48 yards. The Bluebirds were only able to scratch out 12 yards rushing. Defensively, Schmidt was credited with five tackles and Drake Sterk earned four. Buller, Joe Campbell, and Alex Schmidt recorded two tackles.

Kellen Froese advanced to ball 20 yards on two kickoff returns.
