Bluebirds win gold at Halstead

Two Goessel High School girls won gold medals Thursday at the Halstead Quint and four Bluebird boys’ events captured top honors.

In girls’ competition, Ali Buller won the 800-meter run with her personal best time of 2 minutes and 34 seconds. Sophie Scheffe won the 1,600-meter run with her best time of this season, 6:32.80. The girls scored 46 points and finished fourth as a team.

Ben Wiens won gold for the Goessel boys eclipsing the field in the 1,600-meter run at 5:10. Nathan Czarnowsky ran a 2:13 to take first in the 800-meter run. The 4X800 relay knocked 14 seconds off their best time with a new combination of runners to win gold. Team members were Wiens, Grant Flaming, Czanowsky, and Davis Cook. The Bluebird boys finished fourth overall.

Goessel competed Tuesday at Tescott.
