Those with legal issues could find Josh Boehm at the Law Offices of J. Robert Brookens in Marion and Hillsboro for two years, but now he will be a more permanent fixture.
“I’d like to think our office has served the community well over the years but one man can’t do it all,” Bob Brookens said.
With the elevation of Boehm to a permanent position, Brookens hopes he can reduce his workload and assist more clients, then further down the line be his successor.
“I’m not retiring anytime soon, but when it comes to that point further down the line I’d hope he’d continue on, but for now we’re working as team players so we can be assured we can meet the client’s needs,” Brookens said.
Boehm said he and Brookens work well together because of the variation in their work. While both can do all aspects of law, Boehm does more domestic law such as criminal, divorce, and paternity cases, where Brookens does more probate cases. He plans to build relationships around the community in hopes of continuing the practice once Brookens decides to retire.
“He’s not planning on staying around forever,” Boehm said.
Boehm is also the Hillsboro city attorney and graduated with a law degree from Washburn University.
Boehm and his wife, Courtney, moved to Hillsboro in 2012. He said they enjoy Marion County and try to be involved as possible in both Hillsboro and Marion. They are expecting their first child in December.
