Car seat check lane planned for Thursday

Staff writer

Parents who want to make sure their child’s car seat is installed properly can get the car seat checked from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Hillsboro Fire Department on the east side of city hall.

Marion County Health Department, through an arrangement with Safe Kids Worldwide, spent this week teaching a car seat installation class.

The class was presented because the county no longer had anyone certified in car seat installation.

Ten people from various agencies in the county enrolled in the class.

Donations from Marion and Hillsboro Kiwanis clubs, Farm Bureau, and Sons of the American Legion helped defray the cost of the class.

Additional donations are pending.

If a family comes to the check lane and needs a new car seat, the health department has some to give away. Families must qualify by income.
